Saint David Dairy is one of Melbourne’s only super premium inner-city dairy businesses. Its growing appeal comes from its community roots – it’s based in Fitzroy – and the fact that its milk is all sourced from within 100km of Melbourne. At a time when provenance and ‘food miles’ count, its little wonder that word has spread among those who want something wholesome, as natural as possible and from the local producers.

Keeping it natural means minimal intervention – and that means the milk itself can change a little with the seasons. Cafés in and around Melbourne have really taken to it. As have their customers. Since its inception five years ago, Saint David now supplies hundreds of businesses – cafés, deli’s and restaurants – from the Mornington Peninsula to Geelong.

But that’s not all. From the small factory in the heart of Fitzroy, the team at Saint David also make cream, yogurt, and delicious cultured butter.

It’s so good that St David Dairy recently won a number of awards at the 2018 Dairy Industry Association Awards, including National Champion for their Cultured Salted Butter and Victorian Overall Champion for their First Lite Milk.
